Buransh Packaging

Unboxing Buransh

Brief: Design a packaging for any product with the theme “The Joy of Unboxing”.

Design Solution: Buransh (Rhododendron arboreum) is a flower found in Uttarakhand. It's extract (which has a lovely, flowery scent and taste) is used as a syrup to make drinks. It's currently packaged and sold in simple plastic bottles. This packaging focuses on the experience of unboxing this lovely flowery drink. The ordinary looking packaging blooms into a flower on opening, with the syrup bottle left inside to extract.

Design Process:
The idea was a result of playing around with bottle shapes and covering shapes. Many iterations of the box were made with minor tweaks to get the “bounce” of the opening just right. The bottle and label were designed such a way that they’ll interact with the red liquid inside. An identity was created for the hypothetical product inspired by old hand-drawn product labels.
